Here is this year’s Early Morning Practice (EMP) Contract and Schedule. Once your band student turns this in, they are welcome to EMP any time it is open.
Looking for some challenging music to practice? Sun Prairie Honor Band has put out their audition material for their honor band in the fall. Honor bands are great unique opportunities to play with new people and learn new music and skills. It’s a “high stakes” performance opportunity because you’ve only got one day to learn a concert’s worth of music. Plus they’re a lot of fun!

The school year only has a few short days left in it, but once summer break starts, summer band is fast approaching!
If you are going into 6th grade next year, come to as many of the beginner lessons as possible! It’s a great way to get excited and get started for the fall.
If you are going into 7th or 8th grade (or into high school!) there are essentially three different ways you can participate. You can choose to do any or all of these options:
Large Ensembles – Everyone is welcome to play their instrument in the “Full Band” which meets Mondays and Fridays 11:30am-12:30pm. Everyone is also welcome to play in the “Jazz Band” on any instrument — there’s no restrictions or auditions. Just show up with the instrument you play in band class!
Student Teaching – In this role you are asked to help the incoming 6th graders learn to hold, assemble, and play their instrument along with learn how to read music. You should plan on coming to all the beginner lessons of the instrument you play, AND come to the student teacher training on Wednesday morning at 8:30am.
Sign-up lessons – This is your chance to get private, personalized help on anything you want. It can be by yourself, with a friend, or in a small group. Whatever you want to work on!

Do you like band? Would you like a chance to be a part of an honor band? The Sun Prairie Honor Band is a day long event for young musicians who are very enthusiastic about music making. An honor band is essentially like having band class all day long, but with kids from other schools who are just as enthusiastic about it as you are! To be in the group you do have to audition, so here is where you can find you audition material and more information. Contact Mr. Rich if you have questions.

I tried to reach everyone through email, but here’s another reminder that the 6-12 Band Concert scheduled for tonight (Monday, April 27) has been cancelled. Final concerts are as follows:
6th & 7th Grade: Tuesday May 19th – BRMS Gym – 7pm
8th Grade & VAMS Jazz: Thursday May 28th – VAHS PAC – 7pm

6th Grade: 25 out of 25 correct
7th & 8th Grade Grade: 50 out of 50 correct
If you get one wrong, reset your score and start over.
Once you finish, click the “i” in the top right corner > Then click “Show Progress Report” > Then type your name where it says “Student Name” and click “Sign Report > Then copy the link and send it to me in an email.
